About Bella’s Bumbas
Bella’s Bumbas LTD. began out of love and support a great aunt and uncle wanted to provide to their great-niece Bella. It was that initial love that has brought us to where we are today.
Bella was born with Spina Bifida and has no feeling below her knees. After seeing how limited she was when it came to mobility, Bella’s aunt and uncle began looking for ways to help. They saw the plans for the Bumbo wheelchair online and, after seeing the comparable commercial version’s cost, decided to make one for her.
Mission and Goals
After building the first chair and seeing just how much joy it brought Bella, simply being able to interact with her siblings and friends and get herself around, we decided that we wanted to make more chairs for other children who are facing mobility challenges.
We do not charge families for the chairs. We only ask that the families cover the shipping costs. In the United States, the shipping ranges from $62.40 to $74, depending on the seat style chosen. This, however, is only possible with the support of donors who help fund our non-profit.
We hope to stay true to our mission statement, “Mobility is our mission…” and continue providing mobility at an early age to children across the globe.
About Chairs
We hand build each child’s chair in our workshop located in Webster, NY, with many volunteers’ assistance. At this point, we have shipped over 1,600 chairs to over 40 different countries.
Each chair can be customized to the different needs of the child we are sending it to. Some examples include baskets for various medical devices, push handle mounts, and single-hand drive for children that only have use of one arm.

Lets Talk International
Since the creation of this organization, you will be able to find Bella’s Bumbas Chairs on just about every continent. It turns out there are not that many kids in Antarctica. This has allowed us to continue fulfilling our mission to provide mobility to hundreds of families across the globe.
Going international has come with unique challenges all on its own. Customs hangups to families needing to find transportation to pickup locations due to home delivery, not being an option. In order to help navigate some of these challenges, we have developed a network of volunteers all across the globe that act as liaisons to smooth out distribution.
